If you follow us on Facebook, you will know that we are always on the lookout for new members of the team. Shane Taylor Welding is not just Shane – there is a whole team of welders and fabricators and then another team behind them doing the admin, the specifications, the tenders, the procurement, and everything else that is involved in giving our clients the best service possible.
We almost always have vacancies for good people, particularly welders and fabricators, and we like to invite anyone who is interested on site at Maryport to have a chat.
“If someone with the paper qualifications and a bit of expertise approaches us, I like to meet them and have a chat so that I can find out more,” says Shane.
“I’m not a great paperwork person and I know that lots of other really skilled people are like me too so I’d rather make an initial decision based on a meeting rather than a CV or form. If all seems well and I like the attitude too, I’ll invite an applicant to come in for a few days, work on some samples that mirror the jobs we’re tackling and see how they do. Only then is it worth us putting someone new through the test examinations for those codes.”
This is partly because welding and fabricating can be so complicated with different standards for different industries and sectors and then also what are known as different codes for different weld specifications. Once you realise that there are 100s of codes, you can see why no one welder, however experienced, is likely to be qualified to complete every job that comes our way!
Today, Shane Taylor Welding has over 30 welders and fabricators who are multi-coded to a wide range specifications so we’re one of the most experienced and versatile companies in the area. However, we are always looking out for new talent to join the team and that is why people see our job ads on social media so frequently – we need to catch good people when they are looking for their next move.
Might that be you? If so, please get in touch.
